Cate football fell behind in the second half and ultimately lost to Valley Christian by a score of 52-22 on Saturday.

After a scoreless first quarter, Valley Christian found the endzone first to go up 6-0 after a failed extra-point attempt.

The Rams then got on the board with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Pen Brooks to Tyler Martinez. After a two-point conversion, Cate held an 8-6 lead.

Valley Christian answered with a touchdown of its own, but Brooks responded right back with a 9-yard rushing touchdown to regain the lead.

From there, however, Valley Christian dominated en route to the win, especially in the second half.

The final Cate touchdown of the day came on a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Quinn Pullen.

“We give a lot of credit to Valley Christian,” Cate coach David Soto said. “They came out and were in total control in the second half. We were outplayed and out-coached by a hungry team today.

“The plan is to learn from our many mistakes and use it as motivation for the rest of the season.”

The Rams will turn around and take on Chadwick next Saturday.
