Santa Ynez athletes recorded several personal and season bests in Day 2 of the Central Coast Spring Classic Saturday in Arroyo Grande.

The Pirates’ Jonathan Sheppard recorded a PR 34-11 in the shot put and a season-best 93-7.5 in the discus.

For the girls, Giszelle Hrehor had a PR of 29-9.5 in the shot put, and Madison Dewett a PR of 92-11.5 in the discus. Emily Ruiz threw a 70-11 season-best in the discus.

Amelia Villa earned a season-best 15-4.25 in the long jump.

In the girls’ 4×400 relay, the team of Amelia Villa, Opal Vander Vliet, Charlotte Lewis, and Kate Mazza ran a season best 4:24.

“We were in sixth place going into the last leg, and Mazza brought us all the way back into second place,” Pirates coach Ashley Coelho said.

Mazza also placed second in the 800 meter run with a personal best of 2:27.89 and a first place in the 1600 meters with a 5:34.55.
