Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish new year for trees, is just around the corner, and Chabad of S. Barbara and Camp Gan Israel will be celebrating the holiday, 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at 6047 Stow Canyon Road, Goleta.
Tu B’Shvat is a time to celebrate growing, because kids — just like trees — grow bigger and stronger each day. The best way to stay strong and healthy is to take care of our bodies and souls, which is why, at this year’s Tu B’Shvat CKids Club, participants will be able to enter the health bar and become cooking chemists.
After planting a new fruit tree, visitors will find out what nature, fruit and the environment can teach us about living well.
Experimenting with all types of nutritious foods, participants will create their own tasty health bars to take home, complete with a custom label and recipe card.
Adults will be treated to a juice bar led by the Isla Vista Food Coop.
Next up at the CKids Club is the Taste Buds Game Show, where participants use their own tasting abilities and powers of description to work with teammates and guess the names of different Tu B’Shvat flavors. Each round will end with a trivia challenge, testing the newfound knowledge.
