In partnership with the Lompoc Community Garden, the Charlotte’s Web Bookmobile will debut the Sidewalk Story at the Lompoc Community Garden.

Community members are invited to explore the Lompoc Community Garden with a new outdoor literacy installation called Sidewalk Story, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at 903 W. College Ave.

A path through the garden will take children and adults on a self-guided reading adventure through native plants, vegetables, fruit trees, and flowers. Along the pathway each page of a children’s storybook will be installed at a kid-friendly height.

The featured book is “Nosotros Means Us: A Bilingual Story/Un cuento bilingüe” by Paloma Valdivia. Gardeners from the Lompoc Community Garden will speak about their gardens and answer questions, along with offering refreshments made from fresh ingredients sourced from the garden.

The event will also feature the new Route One Mobile Farmers Market, which offers fresh fruit and vegetables, locally sourced and affordably priced. The market also accepts EBT. More information on the mobile market is at: https://www.sbcfoodaction.org.

More about the Lompoc Community Garden is posted on the garden’s Facebook page LompocCommunityGarden.

The Lompoc Public Library thanks Walmart for its support of the neighborhood literacy event.
