Law enforcement officers were involved Monday evening in a high-speed chase on southbound Highway 101 that began in Buellton and ended with an arrest on Santa Barbara's Westside.
The vehicle being pursued by the California Highway Patrol and Santa Barbara County sheriff's deputies was a white Chevy Silverado pickup truck that was stolen out of Hanford in Kings County, according to the CHP.
The chase, which at times reached speeds of 100 mph and included unsafe passing on the right shoulder, began shortly after 6 p.m., and continued through Goleta and into Santa Barbara, where the pickup driver exited at Mission Street, according to Lt. Steve Larson.
He then sideswiped a van at the bottom of the offramp before abandoning the pickup in the middle of Mission Street at San Pascual Street and fleeing on foot.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter and deployed a K-9 unit in the search for the man.
The suspect, David Ponce, 41, of Porterville, was taken into custody in the area of West Islay Street and Thomas Avenue, Larson said.
He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was being held without bail on Tuesday.

Ponce was charged with auto theft, reckless evading of a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, hit and run, and driving without a license, said CHP Officer Jonathan Gutierrez.
In the course of making the arrest, a CHP officer was bitten by the K-9, and sustained minor injuries to his leg, Gutierrez said.
The officer, whose name was not released, was treated and released at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and was back on duty Tuesday.
Ponce was not injured, Larson said.
