A California Highway Patrol officer ticketed a 16-year-old early Wednesday morning for allegedly driving 126 miles per hour through Carpinteria.
About 1:40 a.m., an officer pulled over an Audi TT on southbound Highway 101 near Bailard Avenue, spokesman Jon Gutierrez said.
The driver, a 16-year-old girl, had a provisional license and her 16-year-old sister was in the car as a passenger at the time, he said.
She was cited for excessive speed and disobeying terms of the provisional license, the CHP said.
Both juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.
“Let’s just say their parents weren’t very happy,” the CHP said in a Facebook post.
