Cate goalie Coco LeRoy made 20 saves and Phebe Hancock paced the offense with four goals and two assists as the Rans defeated Thacher, 15-9,  in a girls lacrosse game on Thursday in Ojai, clinching  second place in the Channel League.

Gigi Geyer also scored four goals and Ellie Tunnel had three goals and two assits for the Rams, who led 9-4 at halftime.

Cate will learn its CIF playoff draw on Saturday.

Cate Wins TVL Doubles Title

Cate’s Will Vanica and Ethan Bloom defeated Thacher’s Justin Park/Joe McGonicle, 6-0, 6-3, to claim the Tri-Valley League doubles championship on Thursday.

The Rans also won the third-place singles match as Jengus Ercil defeated Gordon Huckestein of St. Bonaventure, 6-2, 6-3.  In doublers, Nate Newlove/Harry Sun beat Laguna Blanca’s Ben Rodgers/Davis Ohanian, 6-4, 6-3.

In the singles final, Ben Wang of Foothill won the title over Villanova’s Tim Quest, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5.
