San Marcos ace pitcher Cole Schoenwetter and Buena’s Tanner Beltkowski were named the baseball Co-MVPs in the Channel League.

The fireball-throwing Schoenwetter went 6-1 on the season, recorded 108 strikeouts and posted an earned-run average of 0.99. His pitching and hitting helped the Royals win a third straight Channel League title.

Beltkowski was one of the league’s top hitters. He batted .471, hit five homers and drove in 27 runs in leading Buena to second place. He also pitched, posting a 6-1 record with 68 strikeouts and a 1.77 ERA.

San Marcos placed three players on the first team: seniors Caden Hodina, Patrick Kelly and Owen Estabrook.

Santa Barbara and Dos Pueblos each had two players named to the first team. Senior infielder Dane Dawson and sophomore pitcher Eric Anthony were the Dons selected to the team.
