To showcase our support as a sponsor of The Summit for Danny Hike Challenge put on by Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA), Noozhawk spoke with Catherine Remak, Development Director at CADA to learn more about their upcoming event.

Question: What is the name & date of your event?
Answer: Our event is the Summit for Danny Hike Challenge. The event takes place October 10th throught October 31st.
Q: What is the mission, goal, and/or theme of this occasion?
A: To help our local teens “rise above drug abuse!”
Q: Have you held this event before?
A: Yes – this is our 19th annual – but the event has a new format this year.
Q: Tell us some more details about your celebration?
A: What traditionally has been a one-day hiking event at Elings Park (with about 350 people) has been changed to a 3-week event, where hikers can enjoy the option of 2 well marked trails and hike anytime!
Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories. Everyone who registers receives an athletic event t-shirt. Hats will be mailed to anyone who sends a photo of themselves on the trails to creamk@cadasb.org.
Q: How do people get involved with your event? (volunteer, attend, etc.) – If your event includes ticket sales, please note the price and include a link to purchase tickets.

Tickets are $50.00 for adults and $25.00 for kids under 12.
Q: Is this a fundraising affair? If so, how will the funds raised help your organization?
A: Yes, this event raises funds for the Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Center – helping teens with early substance abuse issues. The Center has treated 7 thousand teens and their family members since it opened in 2001.
Q: Who is sponsoring your event, and why is their support important?
A: Montecito Bank and Trust is our Title Sponsor – however there are many more all mentioned on our sponsor page at www.summitfordanny.org. Thank you sponsors!
Q: Do you work with an Event Planner? If not, who are the key people who make it all happen?
A: Bob and Patty Bryant, Catherine Remak, Crystal Frausto, & the CADA Board of Directors were all apart of making this event happen.
Q: Does your organization have any other upcoming events this year?
A: No. This is our last event of the year.
Q: What are you planning as a post-event follow up?
A: Currently, we do not have plans for a post-event follow up.
