A vegetation fire was reported a few miles north of Buellton Tuesday afternoon, and the Santa Barbara County Fire Department said forward progress was stopped at 3 acres.
No evacuations were ordered, and no structures were threatened in the fire, which was reported on the west side of Highway 101, near the junction with Highway 154, north of Buellton, County Fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said.
The fire was reported at 1:20 p.m. and the county sent ground crews as well as a water-dropping helicopter to the scene.
As of 2 p.m., the blaze was contained, and crews remained on the scene to extinguish all hot spots, Bertucelli said.
Caltrans spokesman Jim Shivers said the right-hand lane of southbound Highway 101 was closed in the area of Jonata Park Road due to the fire. It was reopened around 5 p.m.
No further details were available.
