A vegetation fire blackened about 3 acres northeast of Buellton Thursday afternoon, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Crews were dispatched at about 12:45 p.m. to the 2700 block of Ballard Canyon Road, fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said.

After initial units arrived on scene, near Tapadero Road, a second alarm was issued, bringing in more firefighting resources.

Helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft also responded to the fire.

Initially, some structures in the area were potentially threatened, Bertucelli said, but no structures were damaged.

By about 1:15 p.m., the forward progress of the flames had been halted after blackening about 3 acres, Bertucelli said, and some of the firefighting resources were canceled.

No injuries were reported.
