A vegetation fire that broke out Saturday evening east of Santa Maria blackened an estimated 75 acres, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded at about 6:25 p.m. to the blaze along White Rock Road, near Twitchell Reservoir, said fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli.

A full vegetation fire response — including engines, aerial tankers, bulldozers, hand crews, bulldozers and water tenders — was dispatched to the fire, which had a slow to moderate rate of spread.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, Bertucelli said.

Firefighters from Calfire in San Luis Obispo County assisted in battling the fire.

Cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
