The cause of a 1½-acre vegetation fire along Figueroa Mountain Road in the Santa Ynez Valley remained under investigation Saturday afternoon, according to Capt. Daniel Bertucelli of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
He said that shortly after midnight Saturday, firefighters responded to the 9000 block of Figueroa Mountain Road for a vegetation fire burning at the Grass Mountain trailhead.
Personnel from the Santa Barbara County and Los Padres National Forest fire departments worked to quickly stop the fire’s forward progress.
It was the second middle-of-the-night fire in a remote location in the Santa Ynez Valley to which fire crews have responded in recent weeks.
Late last month, firefighters battled a blaze on Happy Canyon Road that blackened about 100 acres. Crews first responded to that incident about 10:30 p.m. July 28.
