Brooklynn Cheney and Madison Morrison combined for 47 digs for the Westmont women’s volleyball team in a 3-1 victory over Vanguard to improve to 10-0, 7-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
The scores were 25-23, 21-25, 25-12, 25-13.
Hali Galloway led a balanced attack with 14 kills. Lexi Malone had 10 kills and Phoebe Minch and Jessie Terlizzi each put away nine.
Keelyn Kistner handed 25 assists and Sydny Dunn had 23.
If the Warriors can win three out of this week’s four matches, they will clinch at least a co-GSAC West Regular Season Championship and a berth in the NAIA National Championships.
“It’s a tough week,” said Westmont coach Ruth McGolpin. “We play today, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It’s not easy as a student-athlete playing a lot of matches in a single week, but it is one game at a time for us. That is always our mindset. We took care of today, then we have to take care of Wednesday. Then the rest will fall into place.”
The Warriors will play at Vanguard on Wednesday before returning home for matches with the second-place San Diego Christian on Friday and Saturday.
