Dos Pueblos held Santa Ynez to 15 points in the second half and pulled away to a 50-40 Channel League girls basketball on Thursday.

The Chargers led 26-25 at halftime.

“The defensive focus was very good in the second half,” said DP coach Phil Sherman.

Lily Mires and Ashley Gerken led a balanced offense, scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively. The Chargers also received offensive output from freshmen Lia Papadour and senior Andrea Guevara who each scored eight points.

“Papador played significant minutes and was assigned to defend Grace Padilla of Santa Ynez, one of the best players in league,” said Sherman. “Ari Tapia and Leila Chisholm did a great job of applying pressure to ball handlers.”

Dos Pueblos improved to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in Channel League.
