Carson Stewart made 12 tackles, including eight for losses, to lead a strong defensive performance by the Laguna Blanca 8-man football team in a 38-18 win over Animo Robinson of Los Angeles on Saturday.

“The guys really put on a show and conducted one of the best defensive performances I’ve witnessed,” said coach Matt Escobar. “To see a group of young men come together, not only pull off a win, but a dominant performance against an extremely big and physical team, shows me that this team is ready to take the next step as a program.”

Stewart also contributed on offense with  three receptions for 102 yards and two for touchdowns.

Escobar said wide receiver Mike Wang had a breakout game with receving and rushing touchowns and a punt return for a score. He ran for 107 yards on 7 carries.

“Our O-line once again blocked their tails off leading to a 100-yard plus rushing performance,” said Escobar.

Quarterback Kent Dunn was 5 of 9 passing for 121 yards and thre touchdowns.
