Dos Pueblos setters effectively spread the ball around in a sweep of Buena in a non-league boys volleyball match on Monday in Ventura. The scores were 25-17, 25-15, 25-23.
Kayode Lovejoy-Hall led the Chargers with 14 kills, Sean Ortiz had nine kills and Finn Hastings added nine kills.
“I’m especially proud of all three setters tonight who spread the ball around and kept trying new plays,” said coach Ehren Hug of Troy Fitzgerald, Kaiser Kurexi and Owen Schott.
DP played solid defense, with nine players picking up digs. Emmett Ehrnstein led the way with 11 digs.
“The varsity played scrappy defense tonight, which allowed us to get a lot of extra swings. I’m super proud of the mental focus,” said Hug.
The Chargers (2-1) are back in action Tuesday at home against Oxnard.
