Dos Pueblos picked up its defensive intensity and forced 25 turnovers in 44-32 Channel League girls basketball win at Cabrillo on Thursdays.
The turnovers led to several fast-break opportunties for the Chargers, who opened up a 34-22 lead after three quarters.
“It was a good team effort on defense,” said DP coach Phi Sherman.
Junior guard Ariana Tapia led the Chargers with 10 points, while Ashley Gerken and Lily Mires each had eight points.
“This is a very young team that is learning to play together and figuring out what varsity basketball is all about,” said Sherman. “I was proud of Sierra Jewell, Lia Papador, Mia Von Protz and especially Justine Katz in how they handled playing on the road. Lily Mires was also impressive as she played all five positions tonight.”
