Georgia Wilson pitched a shutout and went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Dos Pueblos softball team to a 7-0 Channel League win at Buena on Wednesday.
Georgia Wilson struck out six and helped her cause with a pair of doubles.
The Chargers (3-0 in league, 4-3 overall) rapped out 12 hits. Mia Reveles smacked two triples and Trisha Lo went 2 for 3, with both hits driving in runs with two outs.
Coach Mike Gerken also lauded the team’s defense.
In the bottom of the second, Buena loaded the bases and failed to score. Katelyn Lisi threw out a runner at home. The next batter hit a line drive to the gap in left, but freshman Anastasia Brunner made a diving catch to save three runs.
“This was the most complete game we’ve played so far this year,” said Gerken. “Everything was clicking. Lysandra Pimentel had her best game of the year at third base today and Bella Nuño had some great throws from short to beat Buena runners by a step. The catch by Brunner changed the whole landscape of the game.
The Chargers scored in the first on a two-out single by Riley Monroe followed by Reveles’ first triple of the day.
Back-to-back doubles by Wilson and Pau Avina made it 2-0 in the second
The Chargers broke the game open in the sixth. Wilson doubled to lead off the inning and after a walk, Katelyn Lisi singled. Pau Avina scored on a Nuño sacrifice fly and Lisi scored when Buena attempted to throw out a runner stealing second.
