The Dos Pueblos Chargers struggled in a 42-0 loss to Ventura on Thursday at Scott O’Leary Stadium.

With the loss, the Chargers are now 0-2 in Channel League play and 2-2 on the season. The Cougars, meanwhile, are enjoying plenty of success this season to the tune of a 4-1 overall record and a 3-0 mark in league.

Ventura got the scoring started early, converting a passing touchdown just one minute into the game to take a 7-0 lead.

The Cougars weren’t done in the first quarter, either, as another passing touchdown extended the lead to 14-0 at the seven-minute mark in the quarter. That score would hold through the end of the first.

It was more of the same in the second quarter, as Ventura scored two more passing touchdowns to carry a dominant 28-0 lead into the halftime locker room.

No momentum was lost at halftime as the Cougars once again were off and running in the third quarter. This time, Ventura punched in a pair of rushing touchdowns in the quarter to bring the advantage to 48-0.

Neither squad found the endzone in the fourth quarter, allowing the Cougars to cruise to the blowout victory.

Dos Pueblos will face another tough test next week when they take on Pacifica on the road next Thursday.
