Dos Pueblos scored two runs in the seventh, and Kellan Montgomery retired San Marcos in order in the bottom of the inning to lift the Chargers to a 2-0 victory in a Santa Barbara County Tournament rematch at Joe Mueller Field on Thursday,
San Marcos won the first meeting at DP 20-4.
The second meeting was a pitcher’s dual.
Jordan Rico started the game at pitcher for the Chargers and held the Royals scoreless for 5.2 innings, striking out six. Sophomore Kyle Spink relieved Rico in the sixth and earned the win in his first ever varsity appearance.
Montgomery finished off San Marcos in the seventh.
Montgomery led off the top of the seventh with a walk, advanced to second base and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Ryan Speshyock. Greg Marmo followed with a single to score Speshyock.
UCSB-bound Henry Manfredonia pitched six innings for San Marcos and gave up one hit and two runs, while striking out four. At the plate, he hit a double in the third inning. Nick Fell threw one inning of relief.
Emmett Speake and Aidan Mandel each had a hit for the Royals.
