Cheyanne Cordova drove in the winning run for Lompoc with two out in the bottom of the ninth as the Braves beat Dos Pueblos, 4-3, in a Channel League softball opener in windy Lompoc on Friday.

The Braves led off the inning with a triple. DP pitcher Georgia Wilson got the next two outs before Cordova took the first pitch to the left-center field gap.

“We really played well today, especially defensively,” said DP coach Mike Gerken. “Jessica Reveles made some great plays throwing to first agains a hard wind. Wilson struck out seven and only really gave up three hard hits.

“Credit to Lompoc for their timely hitting. That was the difference, timely hits.”

DP led 3-0, but Lompoc tied the score in the fifth on a two-out single and a double.

Jessica Reveles drove in her sister Mia Reveles with a single for DP’s first run in the third inning. Jessica Reveles moved to third on a Riley Monroe hit to center and scored on a wild pitch. Monroe later scored the third run on a ground out by Wilson.

Dos Pueblos is 1-2 on the season.
