Senior Sadie Subject scored 15 points with five rebounds and four steals, leading Dos Pueblos girls basketball to a 64-55 triumph over Moorpark in the second round of the Nordhoff Tournament.
The Chargers (8-2) scored 23 points in the second quarter.
Junior guard Ashley Gerken notched nine of her 14 points from the free-throw line. Sophomore Lily Mires had a fine all-around game with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
“The bench played a significant role as nine Chargers contributed to the scorebook,” said coach Phil Sherman. “This was how I envisioned our team playing this year. Utilizing a number of players and playing hard. Sadie Subject played well on both sides of the court. She made some big shots down the stretch and sophomore Teagan Haley gave us some solid minutes off the bench. It was great seeing her put the ball in the basket and hustle for rebounds.”
