Dos Pueblos won four matches and advanced to the semifinals at the Royal Varsity Classic, where the Chargers lost in the best-of-three sets to L.A. City Section power Granada Hills, 12-25, 25-21, 15-12.
“We played a super fired-up Granada Hills team in the semifinals and weren’t able to complete the match,” said coach Megan O’Carroll. “Chloe Hoffman was named to the all-tournament team for her incredible play and super competitive energy she brought every time she set foot on the court. We’re super proud of her contributions and leadership.”
Hoffman had a team-best 52 kills on the day to go with 30 digs and 14 service aces.
Portia Sherman had 40 kills, 32 digs and 10 aces, libero Erin Curtis picked up 34 digs and had 10 aces and Natali Flint dished out 103 assists in the five matches.
The Chargers defeated Canyon (25-10, 25-16), John F. Kennedy High (25-6, 25-11), Viewpoint (25-12, 25-17) and Agoura (25-18, 25-10).
“Every single player on our team was able to contribute in at least one match for the day,” said O’Carroll. “Our serve receive was incredible for the entire day and our setter, Natali Flint, made some really smart and effective choices for us.”
Dos Pueblos (23-4) returns to Channel League play Tuesday at San Marcos in a first-place showdown.
