The size advantage of San Luis Obispo wore down Dos Pueblos, and the Chargers fell 65-50 in a non-league boys basketball game on Friday night in SLO.
Joaquin Riker scored 18 points and Cole Collins had 10 to lead DP, which led 18-12 after the first quarter.
“The game plan was to speed up SLO, and we did a good job for most of the game,” said DP coach Joe Zamora. “Our guys competed for 32 minutes, but with only one player over 6-4 we had no answer for their bigs.”
The Tigers have two 6-foot-7 players and a 6-8, 350-pound post.
“Cole Collins did a great job against the 6-8, 350-pound post and Kael (Rillie) held his own as well against one of the other two 6-7 posts,” said Zamora. “It was a good challenge for us physically and we never backed down.”
Dos Pueblos (4-10) plays Westlake on Saturday at Moorpark High.
