Carpinteria won its Citrus Coast League boys tennis opener, 16-2, over Nordhoff on Tuesday.
“We played our best overall match of the year to date,” said coach Charles Bryant. “We performed much better in doubles this match and really did a good job of cutting back on our simple mistakes and errors.”
The No. 1 team of Ian Thomas/Zaiden Juarez won their three sets and the No. 2 team of Nolan Martin/Connor Gralewski did just as well in their first time playing together, said Bryant. He also praised the duo of Mathew Endow/Troy Zimmerman of turning in their best performance.
In singles, the Stone Brothers, Austin and Max, along with Ryan Souza each went 2-0 before being subbed out.
“They are a tough trio of players who will get us a lot of points moving forward,” said Bryant. Steven Bengry won the last point with a 7-5 win.
Carpinteria is now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Citrus Coast League.
