The doubles teams got San Marcos off to a good start in a 12-6 non-league boys tennis win over San Luis Obispo on Monday,
The Royals jump out to a 5-1 lead in the first round of sets, with the three doubles teams of Sam Friedman/Bryan Shott, Jayden Duncan/Giulio Rambelli and Charlie Friedman/Joey Friedman all beating their opponents 6-2. The three teams combined with 8-1 on the day.
Duncan and Rambelli provided the most dramatic comeback of the match, recovering from a 2-5 deficit to defeat SLOs No. 1 doubles team 7-5.
“Jayden Giulio showed great resolve and determination to find a way to win by volleying well and setting each other up with great returns and serves. Jayden served out the match with 7 of 8 first serves in the last game,” said coach Jarrod Bradley
Masato Perera swept his sets 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, “utilzing an all-court game wih a strong first serve,” said Bradley. “Masa has really worked on his game and it has shown. He’s overpowering everyone with a huge serve and powerful baseline groundstrokes.”
