A woman was airlifted to the hospital on Tuesday after being critically injured in a vehicle crash south of Los Alamos, Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
The vehicle crashed about 20 feet off the roadway of Highway 101 near the Highway 154 interchange at 7:13 a.m., he said.
The CHP identified the driver as Aubriana Aguirre, 27, of San Luis Obispo.
The driver was traveling northbound on Highway 101 and “allowed the vehicle to veer to the right and leave the roadway,” and the front of the vehicle hit a large oak tree, the CHP Buellton Office said.
Aguirre was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by helicopter with major injuries from the crash.
“Drugs or alcohol are not suspected as a contributing factor to this crash,” according to the CHP, which is investigating the collision.
The California Highway Patrol and an American Medical Response ambulance also responded to the scene.
