An Arizona man was killed in a single-vehicle highway crash in Santa Barbara early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A black sedan traveling southbound on Highway 101 hit a guardrail, a traffic sign and a metal pole along the right shoulder, near the State Street off-ramp, around 1:50 a.m., CHP Officer Jon Gutierrez said.
The 23-year-old driver, a man from Mesa, Arizona, “sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” he said.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash and anyone with information can contact the Santa Barbara area office at 805.967.1234 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel also responded to the crash scene.
