Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 3 p.m. to the rollover crash in the southbound lanes just north of Santa Maria Way, said fire Capt. Scott Safechuck.
Responders had to extricate the adult male driver from the wreckage, which ended up off the roadway, and was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.
His name and details on his condition were not available.
One lane of the freeway was closed down for a time after the crash, which was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
