A motorist was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after crashing his vehicle while exiting the freeway in downtown Santa Barbara late Tuesday night, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the 400 block of Bath Street at about 11:30 p.m. on a report of a rollover crash, Sgt. Chris Payne told Noozhawk.
Upon arrival, they found a Ford Mustang that had clipped a car and overturned, he said.
Residents of the neighborhood reportedly helped the injured driver out of the vehicle before emergency personnel arrived.
The man, identified as Rolando Sanchez, 36, of Santa Barbara, was treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries, then taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Details on his condition were not available.
Sanchez subsequently was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Payne said.
The Bath Street northbound offramp from Highway 101 was shut down for about an hour after the crash, which remained under investigation.
