Eloise McGibben was an unstoppable force at the net for the San Marcos girls volleyball team in a 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 sweep of Dos Pueblos in the Channel League finale on Tuesday night at Sovine Gym.

The Royals finish at 11-3 in league, tied for second place with Oxnard. Dos Pueblos places fourth at 9-5.

McGibben pounded a team-high 15 kills, had five blocks and served a pair of aces.

“Eloise McGibben was huge for us tonight and was unstoppable at the net,” said San Marcos co-coach Tina Brown.

Libero Lily Blankenhorn patrolled the back row and picked up 31 digs.

“It was a great evening for those two seniors,” said Brown.

Dos Pueblos got a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs from senior Chloe Hoffman.

“San Marcos did a really good job trying to keep the ball away from Chloe as much as possible, which made it difficult for us to run our gun as much as we would have liked,” said DP coach Megan O’Carroll. “But she was still super productive and steady for us as always.”

Makeila Cervantes added seven kills and three blocks. Malia Brofferio led the team with 12 digs and Lucy Speier had 10. Jayden Jones served five aces.

“Libero Malia Brofferio was awesome for us on serve receive and defense. She is just a gamer and has a never-say-die attitude which I love about Malia,” said O’Carroll.

“Jayden Jones was incredible from the service line and got some runs for us at some really critical moments.

“Although the match didn’t fall in the way that we would have liked, I really loved the fight and heart our girls showed from start to finish,” O’Carroll added. “Even on match point, the girls were digging their heels in and not giving up.”

Dos Pueblos honored its 11 seniors before the match.

San Marcos will recognize nine seniors on Thursday before its non-league match against Tri-Valley League champion Bishop Diego.
