Goalie Faith Tedesco took over for the Santa Barbara High girls water polo team in a 5-3 win over Oaks Christian on Saturday at Dos Pueblos.

The UC Irvine-bound Tedesco stopped 14 shots and held the Lions to one goal in the final three quarters.

Allie Bartholomew drew a huge ejection in the fourth period and then assisted to Bella Obando to give the Dons a 4-3 lead. Elise Power scored with 15 seconds left to seal the win.

Abigail Hendrix converted on two penalty shots and had three steals for Santa Barbara, which hosts its annual Tournament of Champions from Thursday to Saturday, Jan. 11.

The tournament schedule is being revised because the Santa Barbara pool is out of service due to a broken part. Games scheduled at SBHS are being moved to San Marcos and possibly the Carpinteria Municipal Pool. Dos Pueblos is also hosting games, including the semifinals and final on Jan. 11.
