Juan Monteverde scored the winning goal to give Farmers and Merchants Bank a 9-8 victory over Lucchese for the championship of the Silver Air Pacific Coast Open polo tournament on Sunday at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club.
Santi Toccalino scored on a penalty and added one more goal from the field to tie the score for FMB before Monteverde delivered the game winner.
Lucchese held a 5-2 lead at halftime.
Toccalino was awarded MVP of the match for his impressive comeback performance with six goals in the game. Jeff Hall’s Penultimo earned Best Playing Pony after showing his talent in the fifth chukker.
Season awards were given after the match. Danny Walker earned Best String of 2019. This award was voted on by players proving the respect other teams have for Walker’s horse power. Curtis Skene awarded the Robert Skene Season MVP award to Felipe Vercellino. This person is selected as an overall outstanding player both in talent and sportsmanship.
