Santa Maria Valley Youth & Family Center (SMVYFC) will celebrate its golden anniversary, marking half a century of dedicated service to the Santa Maria Valley community, with a family festival, 1-4 p.m. Sunday Oct. 1.

The Santa Maria Family Festival will be at Teresa Machado Plaza, at the corner of North Pine and West Chapel streets in Santa Maria.

Santa Maria Valley Youth & Family Center is part of the Family Service Agency.

“We invite the entire Santa Maria Valley community to come together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of SMVYFC and the countless lives it has positively impacted,” said Arcelia Sención, chief strategy and North County programs officer.

“We anticipate many more years of promoting hope, strength and stability to children, families, and seniors in Santa Maria,” Sención said.

The Santa Maria Family Festival includes activities for all age groups, as well as food trucks, musical performances, face-painting, crafts, games, and information about SMVYFC’s services.

Since its inception in 1973, SMVYF has been a cornerstone of support and community outreach, providing mental health counseling, family support services, and a range of programs that have impacted some 12,000 individuals annually.
