Firefighters were able to quickly douse a garage fire that broke out Tuesday on Santa Barbara’s Westside, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

Crews were dispatched at about 9:45 a.m. to the 1600 block of Robbins Street, and found a single-wide, detached garage engulfed in flames, fire Battalion Chief Chris Mailes told Noozhawk.

“The fire was pretty well developed when we got there,” he said.

There was no vehicle in the garage, which was being used as a workshop, Mailes added.

Firefighters made an aggresive attack to knock down the flames, Mailes said, adding that a person had been working in the shop about an hour before the fire.

The garage had heavy damage, but no injuries were reported.

Crews remained on scene doing mop up, and an investigator was called in to search for the cause of the blaze.
