Firefighters responded Tuesday afternoon to a vegetation fire burning in the Dos Pueblos Ranch area west of Goleta.
The blaze south of Highway 101 broke out shortly before 4 p.m., and blackened about an acre, according to Capt. Daniel Bertucelli of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The fire, which was sending smoke east into the city of Goleta, was burning in light grass, and the forward progress of the flames had been stopped, Bertucelli said.
Train traffic in the area was halted for firefighter safety, Bertucelli said.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
