Firefighters responded Tuesday to a fire at the Santa Barbara Harbor that destroyed a small market building, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched at about 8 a.m. to the Boat Launch Mini Mart, which is off the main harbor parking lot on the 100 block of Harbor Way, said fire Battalion Chief Robert Mercado.
Smoke from the blaze was clearly visible from throughout the waterfront area, Mercado said, and the first units on scene observed fire and smoke pouring from the single-story structure.

Prior to the arrival of firefighters, Harbor Patrol personnel began battling the flames with the use of a fire boat, Mercado said.
The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes, Mercado said, adding that there were no injuries reported.

Damage was estimated at $150,000, and Mercado said the building appears to be “a total loss.”
The store was not open at the time, and no employees were on scene, Mercado said.
An investigator was dispatched to the scene to search for the cause of the blaze.
