Firefighters quickly extinguished a structure fire at a Santa Barbara house Friday morning and rescued two dogs inside, Battalion Chief Robert Mercado said.
No one was home at the time of the blaze, which was reported on the 300 block of West Islay Street shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, Mercado said.
Responding Santa Barbara City firefighters were able to get inside, determine where the fire was, and get the dogs out, he said.
No injuries were reported to residents, firefighters, or the dogs.
Investigators think the fire was accidental and the cause was electrical, Mercado said.
Damage was relatively minor and the residents aren’t expected to be displaced from the home, although there may need to be some work done before power can be safely restored, he noted.
The dogs were returned to their owners, who arrived at the house while firefighters were still at the scene.
