Firefighters battled a residential structure fire in Mission Canyon early Tuesday morning, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Shortly after 2 a.m., fire crews from the county were dispatched to the 1200 block of Tunnel Road, near the city of Santa Barbara, said fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli.

The blaze occurred in an outdoor storage shed that was adjacent to a residence.

“Upon the arrival of the first engine company, it was determined there was a fully-involved exterior structure,” Bertucelli said. “It was a large shed, which was adjacent to a home.”

Two to three occupants inside a residence close to the burning shed were reportedly evacuated while firefighters “aggressively knocked down” the flames, Bertucelli said.

No injuries were reported.

“The fire did not spread to the adjacent structure, so it remained just an exterior shed fire,” Bertucelli said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Tuesday morning.
