UCSB men’s basketball will be represented at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Former Gaucho standout Gabe Vincent is playing for Nigeria’s basketball team and current associate head coach John Rillie is a member of the Team Australia coaching staff. The two will be on the court Sunday as Nigeria and Australia meet in a preliminary round opener at 1:20 a.m. Pacific Time. The game will be streamed on the NBC Sports app, NBCOlympics.com

This is the second Olympics for Rillie. He played for his native Australia at the 2004 Games in Athens, Greece.

Vincent, UCSB’s all-time leading three-point shooter, is making his Olympics debut. The current member of the Miami Heat goes by Gabe Nnamdi when he’s playing for Nigeria. His father, Franklyn, is Nigeria born.

Nnamdi helped Nigeria to a 90-87 win over Team USA in an exhibition game leading up to the Olympics. He led all scorers with 21 points.

Nnamdi represented the Nigerian Team at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China.
