Charger junior Fred Jones scored a hat trick — his first three goals for the varsity — to lead Dos Pueblos to a 4-2 Channel League win at Cabrillo on Tuesday.
In a tight first half, Matthew Aguiniga scored to put the Chargers up 1-0 going into the break. Cabrillo tied the game in the 48th minute.
“With the score being tied, it was now more of a dogfight,” Dos Pueblos coach Matt York said.
The Chargers broke that tie when senior midfielder Petar Jevremovic went wide with “a beautifully placed ball that left flank man Andy Montalvo hit … back across the face of the goal to be finished by Fred Jones,” York said.
Jones scored twice more late in the game, the first on an assist from Saba Dupont.
The Chargers are now 2-3-2 in Channel League play and 3-3-2 overall.
