Three freshmen scored the goals for the Cate boys soccer team in a 3-2 win over Stevenson of Pebble Beach on Friday.
Suhuyini Abdul Nafeo got the Rams going with goal in the second minute off an assist from Jae Lim.
Charlie Dorion made it 2-0 in the 38th on a header off a Jae corner kick.
Stevenson scored on a penalty kick just before halftime and tied the second in second minute of the second half.
Suhuyini got the game winner in the 60th minute, finishing a cross from Seb Sutch.
Cate begins league play by traveling to Bishop Diego on Tuesday.
Santa Ynez at Cats & Hounds Tournament
The Pirates dropped two games at the tournament in Atascadero. They lost to Santa Maria in a penalty-kick shootout, 5-4, after tying 1-1.
Kevin Margarito scored in regulation for Santa Ynez.
In their second game, the Pirates fell to East Bakersfield, 3-1. Braeden Melville scored the goal.
