Thank you to the Noozhawk staff for your up-to-the-minute reporting on the Labor Day tragedy aboard the Conception. As a diver myself, I was numb all day Monday, and I found myself returning again and again to Noozhawk for the latest news. Each time, you had more details.
Thank you for your dependability and your coverage.

In Noozhawk columnist Randy Alcorn’s Sept. 1 column, “Change Is Coming, Whether Politicians Like It or Acknowledge It,” he writes: “And, while both sides are guilty of reprehensible conduct, the Republicans who are the more desperate because the nation’s changing demographics and the weight of reality does not favor them, are the dirtier fighters.”
And continues, “In order to maintain enough political power to stave off changes disadvantageous to them, they actively work to dilute democracy …”
Yeah, right, OK. Whatever you say Randy.

I don’t get Harold Maio’s beef with the Mental Wellness Center in his Aug. 27 letter to the editor. He complains that the center is educating people about “the negative stigma associated with mental illness,” evidently believing that there is no stigma and their actions are only perpetuating a myth.
But there is a stigma, which is why the Mental Wellness Center is responding the way it is. Just because you don’t want to believe it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
