Evacuations were ordered Monday afternoon following a natural gas line break in Old Town Goleta.

The incident was reported at about 1:30 p.m. on Orange Avenue near Hollister Avenue, according to Capt. Daniel Bertucelli of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Residents were ordered to evacuate from several buildings near the leak, Bertucelli said.

Hollister Avenue was shut down in both directions between Orange and Fairview Avenue, according to the county Sheriff’s Department.

The line break was caused by a construction crew working on Orange Avenue, Bertucelli said.
