The Goleta Valley South Little League Juniors Division All-Star team erupted for eight runs in the first inning and rolled to a 15-0 win over Ventura Little League in District 63 Tournament opener on Friday at the GVSLL complex.

William Wrenn and Owen Carleton had big run-scoring hits hits to lead the first-inning explosion

The GVSLL offense continued to roll with Wrenn also recording a triple. Diego Alvarez and Titus Fernandez hit doubles.  Jake Brennan, Cruz Lorca, Chris Youngdahl and Wrenn all scored twice, while Alvarez scored three times in the game.

Starting pitcher Kevan Vatan threw three innings and Owen Carleton closed out the fourth inning to combine for a three-hit shutout.

The game was called after four innings due to the mercy rule.

“Kevan came out and threw strikes and the defense played incredible,” said manager Rob Brennan.  “Wrenn, Brennan and Youngdahl all made several great defense plays to keep Ventura Little League off the board and off the base paths. “
