A Goleta man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Santa Maria and now faces assault and domestic violence charges.

Albert Willis Clarke, 29, was arrested Tuesday by Santa Maria police.

The arrest was related to a stabbing that occurred in the 700 block of East Mill Street in Santa Maria, according to police Lt. Russ Mengel.

A criminal complaint filed in Santa Maria Superior Court on Thursday charged Clarke with a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon plus two misdemeanor counts of battery on a spouse/partner and vandalism for incidents that occurred July 15.

He also faces sentencing enhancements including for causing great bodily injury.

Authorities also spelled his name as Albert Willis Clark.

On Thursday, Clark remained in the custody of the Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
