Freshman Graham Chapman earned the first medalist honor of his high school career, leading San Marcos to a 210-278 nine-hole victory over Lompoc at La Purism Golf Course.

Chapman birdied the ninth hole to beat out teammates Brody Ricci and Holdt by one stroke. Aaron White was two shots back and Ryan Mclain six shots.

“La Purisima is in great condition as they are getting it prepared for the Lompoc City Championship, and the greens were really fast,” said San Marcos coach Jeff Ashton. “I thought that all of the guys did a great job of handling the heat and the greens.

“We took a team of only sophomores and freshmen today and they all stepped up and played really well.”

San Marcos is 4-1 in Channel League and 7-1 overall.
