A woman received traumatic injuries in a head-on crash Tuesday night on a city street in Santa Maria.

Just before 7 p.m., personnel from the Santa Maria Fire Department, the Police Department and American Medical Response were dispatched to the incident on East Alvin Avenue, between College Drive and Miller Street, firefighters said.

The crash involved a pickup truck and a small sedan, whose driver suffered major injuries.

She was transported by AMR ground ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center, where she was placed on a CalStar medical helicopter and taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of trauma injuries.

Her name, age and condition weren’t available Tuesday night.

The circumstances surrounding the crash were under investigation by officers with the Police Department’s Traffic Bureau.
