Hillside is pleased to invite neighbors, supporters, friends and the public to the 3rd Annual “Shining Light on Abilities” from after sundown Dec. 7 and continuing nightly through Dec. 31, at Hillside,1235 Veronica Springs Road, Santa Barbara.

This festive display of holiday decorations and lights – including a slideshow of Hillside residents sharing their abilities – is a must-see for families and holiday lights aficionados of all ages.

“This is a truly wonderful event for the 59 Hillside residents, the community and thousands of visitors,” Hillside President/CEO Craig Olson said.

“This is a chance for our neighbors and friends to visit Hillside and learn a little bit about the residents, their abilities and our services – all while celebrating the season. We welcome everyone.”

For the third year in a row, Boy Scouts from Troop 37 along with their parents and friends volunteered during their Thanksgiving break to help the Hillside facilities team assemble the decorations and string the lights that are part of this holiday extravaganza.

One of the Scouts even offered: “We can help take everything down when it’s over!”

“Shining Light on Abilities” has been made possible in part thanks to the generosity of the Hillside Family and Friends Group and Santa Barbara Home Improvement Center. In addition, Santa Barbara Trolley, RockStar Transportation and The Land Shark have all been invited to include Assistance League® of Santa Barbara and Hillside on their holiday lights tours.

Founded in 1945, Hillside is an independent non-profit organization providing residential care, medical support and empathetic caregiving to people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For the 59 residents, Hillside is home.
